We are hiring a Front-end Developer for the European Commission in Brussels and various locations around Europe.
Key Responsibilities
* Development of front-end website architecture.
* Design of user interactions on web pages.
* Cross-platform optimisation.
* Understanding and implementation of security and data protection.
* Design responsive applications.
* Design and develop APIs.
* Participating in the design and creation of scalable software.
* Maintenance of code integrity and organisation.
* Writing clean, functional code.
* Compile and analyse data, processes, and codes to troubleshoot problems and identify areas
* for improvement.
* • Testing and fixing bugs or other coding issues.
* • Meet both technical and consumer needs.
* • Write technical documentation.
Skills
Education
* Bachelor's degree or higher
Knowledge and skills
* Excellent knowledge of Object Oriented Programming languages (Java, Angular);
* Good knowledge of relational database systems (Oracle, PostrgesSQL);
* Good knowledge of development and integration tools (GIT, Gitlab, Eclipse, Bamboo, Jira,
* SonarQube);
* Knowledge of the design and development of web and multi-tier applications (using REST, SOAP,…)
* Experience of software development methodologies (e.g. RUP, AGILE);
* Ability to participate in multi-lingual (EN and FR) meetings, good communication skills;
* Capability of integration in an international/multi-cultural environment, rapid self-starting capability and experience in working in team.
* In addition to the requirements above, a good knowledge of EC Building Blocks would be an asset
Specific Expertise
* Excellent knowledge and experience (2 years or more) of Angular and Java;
* Good knowledge and experience (1 year or more) of Oracle and PostgresSQL;
* Good knowledge of Bamboo and GITLAB;
* Good knowledge of Weblogic and Tomcat;
* Experience with euLogin (European Commission's authentication service and single sign-on system);
* Experience with eUI (component library developed by the European Commission to build consistent, accessible, and reusable user interfaces across its web applications).
