Job Summary
As Indirect Operational Buyer, you will be a key contributor to the Terumo Europe's source-to-pay process, responsible for procuring goods, materials, and services that meet operational needs while balancing cost, quality, and delivery. You will drive a consistent global procurement process that streamlines purchase order management and support services to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Acting as a central point of coordination, you will partner with business teams to manage and troubleshoot purchasing activities, oversee MRO vendor-managed materials, and ensure the continuity of supply essential to smooth operations.
Job Responsibilities
1. Serve as the primary procurement partner for assigned business areas, supporting day-to-day sourcing and purchasing needs across indirect categories.
2. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, specifications, and timelines, ensuring supplier performance and timely delivery of goods and services.
3. Execute PR-to-PO conversions, spot sourcing and quote negotiations to achieve competitive pricing, favourable payment terms and measurable cost savings.
4. Review purchase requisitions and small contracts for accuracy, compliance and alignment with established procurement policies and terms and conditions.
5. Prepare POs and BPOs, track order confirmations, and proactively communicate delivery updates or delays to business partners. Monitor supplier performance and contract compliance, leading follow-up and corrective actions as needed to ensure consistent quality and service.
6. Partner with stakeholders to ensure use of preferred and diverse suppliers, maintaining accurate diversity and savings reports.
7. Support Accounts Payable and end users in resolving invoice discrepancies and procurement system issues, ensuring smooth transactional operations.
8. Conduct cost analyses, competitor research, and market reviews to identify savings opportunities, process improvements, and emerging trends.
9. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including GBS projects, and maintain system accuracy by cleaning up outdated purchase orders and managing stock systems.
Profile Description
10. A first experience in procurement, with indirect procurement experience preferred
11. Proven ability to negotiate effectively and accurately report cost savings and performance metrics
12. Proficient in Microsoft Office (intermediate to advanced Excel skills); experience with Ariba or SAP is a plus
13. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across teams and organisational levels
14. Fluency in English (as we are an international company) and Dutch (as you are the local point of contact)
15. Adaptable and hands-on with the flexibility to work on-site for 2-3 days a week in our EMEA HQ in Leuven, Belgium
