A Brussels-based (Elsene) restaurant serving Franco-Belgian seasonal classical food, as well as freshly made coffees, artisan beers, and quality wines.
The interior decoration is modern and trendy, reflecting the atmosphere of a contemporary bistro associated with a "local" restaurant.
The kitchen is large, well-equipped, and fully open to the restaurant area.
Open Tuesday to Sunday, with split service during the week and ongoing brunch service on weekends and holidays.
You will work closely with the manager (owner) and be responsible for:
1. Creating and establishing the menus.
2. Organizing kitchen tasks and ensuring its smooth operation (team & hygiene).
3. Supervising workflow and maintaining quality.
4. Producing consistent quality using seasonal, fresh, and organic (whenever possible) ingredients.
5. Managing supplies and the performance of the kitchen team.
6. Recruiting, training, and directing the kitchen staff.
The chef will be responsible for a team comprising: 1 sous-chef, 2 kitchen clerks, 1 dish-washing person, plus additional students on weekends.
Requirements include a degree from a recognized hotel school or equivalent Horeca training, with 3 to 6 years of practical experience as a chef or sous-chef in a reputable restaurant in Belgium or abroad, including team management experience.
Basic knowledge and interest in wines and gastronomy are preferred.
You should be reliable, adaptable, fast, meticulous, clean, and attentive to detail.
Language skills: English, French, and/or Dutch.

* Full-time contract (post-trial), 5 days per week.
