With a strong foundation in academic excellence and industrial impact, the center is at the forefront of advancing optoelectronic integration and bandwidth scaling for future communication systems.As a Senior High-Speed Modulator Concept Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing high-performance photonic devices and integrated solutions. ResponsibilitiesLead the design and evaluation of next-generation high-speed optical modulators, including Mach-Zehnder and micro-ring structures, targeting performance beyond 400G.Design RF transmission lines and integrate them with photonic components to ensure optimal performance across optical and electronic domains.Investigate and incorporate novel materials into existing fabrication platforms to push performance boundaries.Simulate, design, and validate optical components and systems in collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams.Interface with fabrication teams to refine or replace key process steps critical to high-speed modulator performance.Engage with test, module, and system teams to ensure end-to-end functionality and manufacturability of developed components.Define experimental test plans, conduct data analysis, and use feedback loops to guide continuous design iteration and improvement.RequirementsPhD in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with at least 3 years of experienceOR Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant industry experienceProven experience in the design, simulation, and testing of photonic components using silicon or III/V materialsDemonstrated leadership in high-speed modulator development projectsProficiency with optical simulation tools (Lumerical, COMSOL, Photon Design)Familiarity with RF modeling tools (CST, HFSS, ADS), and process simulation tools (Sentaurus, Silvaco)Hands-on experience with layout software (Tanner L-Edit, Luceda IPKISS)RF component testing experience is a plusProgramming in Python and working in Linux environments are considered assetsDeep knowledge of integrated optics and silicon photonics fabrication flowsStrong problem-solving abilities and innovative thinkingExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishTeam-oriented, collaborative mindset within multidisciplinary and international teams.
