About The Role
Vaco LLC is seeking an experienced HR Manager to support multi-state operations across California, Nevada, and Arizona. This pivotal role is responsible for strengthening people practices within a growing organization, ensuring compliance with federal and state labor laws, and enhancing employee relations. The HR Manager will play a key part in improving employee retention, supporting leadership development, and streamlining HR processes to foster a positive and compliant work environment. This position requires a proactive, organized professional capable of managing day-to-day HR operations, handling complex employee relations issues, and partnering effectively with cross‑functional teams to align HR strategies with business objectives.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in HR operations, employee relations, and multi‑state compliance, particularly with knowledge of California labor laws. Prior experience working in dynamic, fast‑paced environments is essential. A strong understanding of employment law, investigations, performance management, and benefits administration is required. The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills, organizational abilities, and a collaborative mindset. Relevant certifications such as SHRM‑CP or SHRM‑SCP are preferred. Additionally, familiarity with ADA/FEHA accommodations, workers' compensation processes, and talent acquisition practices will be highly advantageous. The ability to balance people needs with business priorities and support leadership effectively is critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
* Lead daily HR operations, including employee relations, compliance, and documentation management across California, Nevada, and Arizona.
* Manage investigations, performance issues, corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution of employee concerns.
* Ensure adherence to federal and state labor laws, reducing organizational risk and maintaining accurate records.
* Partner closely with Operations, Training, and leadership teams to support consistent store and operational practices.
* Support leave of absence management, ADA/FEHA accommodations, and workers' compensation processes to ensure legal compliance and employee well‑being.
* Assist with talent acquisition efforts, benefits administration, and aligning pay practices with industry standards.
* Provide managers with tools, guidance, and training for performance management, coaching, and leadership development.
* Maintain organized records of HR activities, employee files, and legal documentation to ensure audit readiness.
* Promote a positive workplace culture by fostering open communication and supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Continuously evaluate HR processes for efficiency and recommend improvements to support organizational growth.
