We are looking for a hands‑on and pragmatic Legal Counsel who will play a key role in strengthening and further developing our Legal, Compliance, Risk Management and Insurance function across Europe. In this role, you will operate at the heart of our international organisation, working closely with business leaders and supporting our operations across multiple countries.
You will be based at our European Headquarters in Antwerp, acting as an important link between the regional organisation, our local operating companies across Europe and our Global Head Office in Japan.

Your role
As Legal Counsel, you will act as a trusted advisor to the business and support a wide range of legal and compliance activities across our European operations.
Acting as a Legal Business Partner to Yusen Logistics’ Executive Management, Operating Companies, Business Units and Industry Verticals across the European region
Negotiating, drafting and reviewing a broad range of international commercial agreements, including contracts related to freight forwarding, distribution, transportation, customer agreements, insurance and leasing
Providing proactive legal advice and training in areas such as privacy, data protection and regulatory compliance
Supporting the business in identifying and mitigating legal and operational risks
Maintaining and further developing Risk Management and Compliance programmes across the organisation
Creating management dashboards and KPIs to monitor compliance and drive continuous improvement
Supporting the business in dispute prevention and resolution
Managing and coordinating claims handling processes
Initiating and driving new legal and compliance initiatives within the European region and beyond
In this role, you will report directly to the Chief Legal Officer of Yusen Logistics Europe.
What you bring
We are looking for a legal professional who combines strong legal expertise with a pragmatic, business-oriented mindset.
A Master’s degree in Law
5+ years of experience working as Legal Counsel or in a similar legal role, preferably in an international or commercial environment
Strong experience in commercial contract negotiation and drafting
Knowledge of privacy, data protection and compliance frameworks
The ability to work effectively in a multinational organisation with multiple stakeholders
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Professional fluency in English (additional European languages are a plus)
Pragmatic and solution-oriented
Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
Proactive and able to manage changing priorities and deadlines
A strong communicator who builds trusted relationships across the business
Curious and eager to contribute to the continuous improvement of legal and compliance processes
