Freelance Data Engineering and Architect opportunities | Spain (Remote) - Portugal
We’re currently partnering with a sector-leading global insurance company on a long-term freelance project, and we’re looking for an experienced Data Engineers and Architects to join their team.
Location: Spain (open to candidates based in Portugal)
Contract: Long-term freelance
Rate: Competitive market rate
Environment: International, multi-cultural team
Key Requirements (5+ years experience):
Strong experience in data integration (batch processing, Kafka events, etc.), ETL/ELT, and migration (on-premise to Azure cloud)
Hands-on expertise with Azure stack: Synapse, Databricks, Data Lake Gen2, Azure APIs, Functions, Triggers, Events, SHIR
Solid Python skills (core Python, PySpark) and experience with containerisation (Kubernetes)
Advanced SQL knowledge (T-SQL, PL/SQL) with experience building complex queries and ETL pipelines
Experience with RDBMS (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.)
Strong understanding of Data Warehouse architecture & data modelling (3NF, Star Schema)
Knowledge of Lakehouse concepts (Delta Lake)
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira & Confluence
Experience with data modelling tools (e.g., Erwin, FET)
Proven ability to work in multi-cultural teams
