As a Senior Functional Analyst, you work on large, business-critical applications in a technically complex environment. You play a central role in analyzing, structuring, and translating business needs into clear functional specifications that development teams can effectively implement.
You combine strong analytical skills with hands-on experience in process and data modeling, and you are comfortable working in object-oriented, multi-tier, and web-based architectures. You act as a trusted partner for both business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring clarity, feasibility, and quality from requirements to delivery.
What you will do
You analyze and document functional requirements for complex, mission-critical applications.
You translate business needs into clear functional designs, using UML and structured modeling techniques.
You actively work in technically rich environments and understand the implications of architectural choices.
You model data and processes using appropriate tools and standards.
You collaborate closely with developers, guiding them during implementation and ensuring alignment with the functional design.
You work in an Agile context, contributing to refinement, alignment, and continuous improvement.
You document and communicate clearly using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Enterprise Architect.
What are we looking for?
You have at least 10 years of experience as a Functional Analyst.
You have worked on large, business-critical systems in complex technical environments.
You have practical experience with digitalization and process optimization within the higher education or research domain.
You understand how educational or academic administrative processes work and how they translate into digital solutions.
Experience with digital learning platforms such as Brightspace is a strong plus.
Experience with scheduling or timetabling tools such as TimeEdit is also a plus.
You are very familiar with UML, Enterprise Architect (Sparx Systems), and the Atlassian stack (Jira, Confluence).
You are experienced in requirement analysis and design for OO, multi-tier, and web-enabled environments.
You have solid knowledge of data and process modeling techniques.
You are fluent in Dutch (CEFR C2) and have a good working knowledge of English, both written and spoken.
