To support the continued growth of our Sustainable Finance, Climate and Biodiversity Policy practice, we are looking for an Analyst to join our team in Brussels, Spain or London. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team and support our diverse policy work. You will get the opportunity to work on flagship projects such as the Innovation Fund, studies related to climate diplomacy, and the transformation of our society towards a net-zero, nature positive and socially just model. Your work will benefit clients such as the European Commission, national governments, and international and national development finance institutions.
Our team has built a reputation for the successful delivery of large, complex projects, developing innovative solutions that drive positive change for their clients and support the overall sustainable transition in the EU and beyond. Some of our flagship projects include:
1. Providing continuous expertise since 2019 to support the successful implementation of the EU Emissions Trading System’s Innovation Fund
2. Supporting the design of decarbonisation strategies and transition pathways at EU and national level
3. Supporting the development of a long-term research and innovation agenda towards 2050 climate neutrality (see report )
4. Designing Sustainable Finance Action Plans for different EU Member States (e.g. Poland, Italy) to redirect public and private capitals towards the low carbon transition
5. Delivering the since 2013 for the European Commission
6. Evaluating the impact of green bonds on supporting climate mitigation investments for the and European Bank for Reconstruction & Development
7. Supporting National Promotional Banks in Poland and Spain with their sustainable finance strategies
Responsibilities:
You will work as part of a multi-national, multi-disciplinary and collaborative team of climate and environmental experts, economists, engineers, financial experts, and communication specialists to:
8. Support the delivery of projects for public and private clients
9. Support the deployment of discrete tasks and activities
10. Provide robust and sound qualitative and quantitative analysis and support the translation of complex data into meaningful and impactful recommendations
11. Engage with stakeholders through both quantitative and qualitative surveys
12. Support ICF’s thought leadership in climate policy, identifying emerging trends and opportunities and help to translate these into new service offers that will benefit clients
Required qualifications & skills:
13. Fluency in spoken English and excellent writing skills
14. Master’s degree in climate or environmental sciences, environmental economics, environmental engineering, political sciences, or a related discipline
15. Professional working experience of 1-2 years in the field of climate policy at EU level, with an excellent understanding of the latest policy developments (e.g. Net Zero Industry Act; Climate Law; EU ETS; etc.).
16. Strong qualitative and quantitative analysis capability, including advanced knowledge of Excel and equivalent tools
17. Proven communication skills and track record in the field of stakeholder engagement, especially within public authorities and the business and finance community
18. Ability to work within multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary consulting teams spread across several countries and time zones
Preferred qualifications & skills
19. Fluency in a second EU language
