We're working with an early-stage cleantech innovator focused on making industrial decarbonisation more accessible and scalable. By developing flexible carbon capture solutions for point-source emissions, they aim to reduce the release of carbon dioxide at its origin and contribute meaningfully to the transition toward a low-carbon industrial future. As they expand, they are looking to bring in a new Process Engineer on a full-time basis.
You will play a central role in the development and deployment of modern carbon capture systems. This is a hands-on position that spans process design, equipment development, pilot engineering, and on-site implementation.
The role offers broad exposure across the full lifecycle of technology development - from early engineering concepts to operational systems at customer locations. It is well suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, improving system performance, and seeing engineering work translated into measurable environmental impact.
Responsibilities
* Develop carbon capture processes with a focus on efficiency, energy use, operability, and safety
* Support the engineering and execution of pilot-scale systems, ensuring technical performance targets are met
* Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement through testing and analysis
* Contribute to project planning and execution, aligning technical solutions with delivery timelines and operational constraints
* Support deployment activities at customer sites, including commissioning, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis
* Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to exchange knowledge and drive technical progress
* Create and maintain clear process documentation, including operating procedures and safety-related materials
Your Profile
* Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field
* 1–3 years of experience in process engineering within the chemical, petrochemical, or related industrial environment
* Exposure to gas separation or purification technologies is considered an advantage
* Solid foundation in chemical processes, thermodynamics, and equipment design (or strong motivation to build expertise in these areas)
* Familiarity with process simulation tools such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar software is a plus
* Understanding of industrial safety standards and risk management principles
The Offer
* Joining a genuinely impactful and unique scale-up business
* Opportunity to grow rapidly into a Project/Proposal Lead
* Flexible hybrid work in Louvain-la-Neuve
* Up to €5.5k for experienced candidates (interview process dependent)
