Sr. Manager, Solution Engineering – Pfizer Join Pfizer in advancing digital solutions that drive performance across our global supply chain. In this senior leadership role, you will champion the design, deployment, and maintenance of the COMET (Siemens OpCenter Pharma Execution) and AMPS (Rockwell Pharma Suite) MES platforms at manufacturing sites.
Role Summary Digital Manufacturing empowers Pfizer’s core manufacturing and engineering solutions with real‑time analytics and seamless data flow. The Global Supply Engineering & Sustainment team ensures that our platforms, systems, and digital capabilities are reliable, scalable, and future‑ready.
As Senior Manager, Solution Engineering, you will own the infrastructure architecture, installation, configuration, and upgrade execution of MES platforms. Your leadership will guarantee high availability, scalability, and compliance with GxP and Pfizer’s enterprise standards. You will collaborate with Siemens, Rockwell, site automation, enterprise architecture, and global Digital Manufacturing teams.
Role Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Architecture Leadership
Lead end‑to‑end design, build and validation of COMET and AMPS on‑premise infrastructure (servers, databases, networking, virtualization, storage, backup, monitoring, observability)
Partner with global Pfizer architecture teams to ensure compliance with enterprise infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data protection standards
Define system sizing, capacity planning, and performance monitoring strategies for the MES environment
Deployment & Execution
Lead site‑level MES build deployments and cutover activities in collaboration with Siemens, Site Automation, and Global Manufacturing teams
Oversee installation, environment setup, configuration, and qualification of all MES system components
Ensure execution of release upgrades, including regression testing, validation and business continuity planning
Operational Excellence & Stakeholder Engagement
Establish robust monitoring and observability, alerting, and incident management processes to ensure system uptime and stability
Partner with L4 support vendors and SRE teams to drive proactive problem management and root cause analysis
Develop a robust lifecycle management roadmap ensuring infrastructure is modernized and upgraded while avoiding business risk
Work with product managers to create short‑ and long‑term strategic roadmaps for Solution Engineering, leveraging best‑in‑class technology solutions
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers as required
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to enhance system performance, reduce downtime, and optimize deployment processes
Contribute to global MES infrastructure templates, playbooks and standardization initiatives
Mentor technical staff and develop site expertise in MES infrastructure and operations
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related experience
Minimum 7+ years of experience designing, deploying, and managing on‑premises or hybrid MES or automation systems in a regulated environment
Strong hands‑on experience with infrastructure architecture (Windows/Linux servers, databases, virtualization, networking, system monitoring, and observability)
Proven ability to lead complex software upgrades and manage multi‑environment deployments
Experience in GxP‑compliant system design, validation and lifecycle management
Understanding of SAFe agile delivery, DevOps concepts, and ITIL‑based service management
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across cross‑functional teams including Automation, IT Infrastructure, QA, and vendors
Excellent communication skills; able to translate complex technical topics for diverse audiences
Leading Global Development and Support teams
Experience working with cross‑functional teams composed of both technical and non‑technical members
Experience in managing Digital L4 support queues and adhering to defined SLAs (Service Level Agreements)
Experience in all stages of system and application lifecycle from value analysis, business case development, solution deployment through value realization and system retirement
Problem solving within fast‑paced and constantly changing environments
Ability to work across multiple concurrent activities and in ambiguous situations while successfully adapting to changing priorities as required
A thorough understanding of system GMP requirements and demonstrable knowledge of computer system design and maintenance lifecycle in GMP environments
Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience with Siemens’ Opcenter Execution Pharma solution, Rockwell Pharma Suite solution or other MES solution
Experience integrating MES systems with automation layers and enterprise systems
Experience within a manufacturing setting
Experience leading vendor‑delivered implementation projects and coordinating across multiple time zones and stakeholders
Experience with Digital solutions within a BioPharma company

Ability to travel up to 20% and must be able to support weekend or night cutover and/or upgrade activities
