Offer Description
What you will do
Compute System Architecture (CSA) is a center of excellence at imec for HW-SW co-design for future compute systems.
As a Principal SoC Fabric Architect in CSA at imec, you will be responsible for gathering and processing requirements from customers (internal/external) to de-risk and explore future system architectures, especially targeting sectors like HPC, AI, and Automotive. Your focus will be on the design space around fabric and IO components across the system hierarchy, with an emphasis on chiplet-based designs. You will own the deliverables and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet these requirements. This includes building virtual/hybrid platform models, developing & integrating fabric components, and designing experiments. The role combines research, software engineering, and hardware modeling, requiring collaboration with colleagues with expertise in these areas. You may also explore co-design opportunities with novel technologies such as OIO and advanced packaging.
* BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering
* 8+ years (6+ post PhD) of relevant industrial experience, including high-level requirements intake/definition (strong candidates with slightly less experience are encouraged to apply)
* Strong background in computer architecture and microarchitecture
* Expertise in NoC architecture design and analysis
* Deep familiarity with system fabric protocols (e.g., AMBA CHI/CMN) and IO protocols (PCIe, CXL, UCIe, etc.); understanding of Ethernet networks is a plus
* Experience evaluating workload and traffic models against fabric architectures
* Experience with SystemC/TLM or similar performance modeling frameworks
* Experience with chiplet-based architectures is advantageous
* Good software/hardware engineering practices (version control, CI, testing, etc.)
* Hands-on approach and mentoring skills, fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration
