Position Title: Agile Product Owner
Location: Near site, Brussels (5 days per month on site; living max 2.5 hours driving distance from Brussels)

Job Description:
• Works within the agile process and is the final authority for decisions regarding priority, business value, and functionality for all the work done by the agile development team.
• Typically supervises several business analysts.
• Possesses an in-depth knowledge of goals and desired objectives of the project.
• Interacts and validates requirements with the business.
• Propose solutions by combining IT tools and business process refactoring or improvements based on an in-depth understanding of a specific business domain
• Creates, maintains, prioritizes, and sequences the product backlog based on business value or return of investment.
• Creates user stories and acceptance tests from themes and features granular enough for a single
• sprint.
• Is involved in the decision making process related to user stories scheduling into sprints.
• Participates in project planning, daily stand-up meetings (SCRUM).
• Participates to retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings.
• Reviews deliverable and demonstrable product version/software functionalities after every sprint.
• Organizes live demonstration of the product at the end of the sprint.
• Facilitates the acceptance of the product by the business.
• Develops and maintains standards for testing.
• Provides progress reporting.
• Assists with internal and external communication by improving of transparency and dissemination of information.
• Assists with prioritization and resolution of defects / bugs.
• May perform the role of Scrum master.
Requirements
• Master Degree + 11 years of relevant professional experience
• Scrum mastery: deep understanding of Scrum roles, artifacts, and ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Retrospectives, Reviews).
• Agile coaching: ability to guide the team and stakeholders in adopting agile values and practices.
• Facilitation & conflict resolution: strong skills in leading workshops, mediating disagreements, and ensuring team collaboration.
• Servant leadership: supporting the team by removing blockers rather than top-down directing.
• Metrics & reporting: Using burndown charts, velocity, and cumulative flow diagrams to track progress.
• Java JEE basics: awareness of enterprise Java concepts (application servers, APIs, microservices, CI/CD pipelines).
• ServiceNow fundamentals: knowledge of workflows, scripting, integrations, and ITSM/ITOM modules.
• DevOps & CI/CD: understanding Jenkins, Git, automated testing, and deployment pipelines.
• Integration knowledge: how Java backends might integrate with ServiceNow workflows or APIs.
• Quality practices: encouraging unit tests, code reviews, and automated regression testing.
• Backlog management: collaborating with Product Owners to refine and prioritize requirements.
• Dependency management: Coordinating between Java and ServiceNow teams (often working on connected systems).
• Risk management: identifying technical and organizational risks early.
• Stakeholder communication: explaining progress and challenges to business and IT leadership in non-technical terms.
• Communication: bridging developers, testers, architects, and business stakeholders.
• Ability to understand, speak and write English [B1/B2 level]
Following certificates & standards are required for the performance of tasks:
• Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) mandatory
Optional:
• ITIL Certification above ITIL foundation (or equivalent)
• Project management certification such as Prince 2, PMP or equivalent
• SAFe Scrum Master or SAFe Agilist
