Responsibilities
* Design, implement, and optimize control systems for testing equipment using model-based design tools and industrial automation platforms
* Program PLCs using IEC 61131-3 languages for test-cell revamp projects and new test-bench designs
* Commission and validate automation systems, ensuring adherence to standards and best practices
* Develop and tune control algorithms through simulation and implement them in real control systems
* Analyze simulation results and compare them with actual measurements to refine models and control strategies
* Collaborate with project leaders and engineers to provide expertise in predictive modeling, system optimization, and verification of test setups
* Proactively define and run tests that validate theoretical models against real-world data
* Capture and document knowledge gained for continuous improvement of test processes
Qualifications
* Experience in automation and control-systems development, including programming PLCs using IEC 61131-3 languages
* Familiarity with automation platforms such as Beckhoff TwinCAT, Siemens TIA Portal/Step 7, or Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley)
* Experience with model-based engineering and simulation tools, especially MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow
* Strong programming skills for automation applications; experience with Python or other scripting languages is a plus
* Experience with SCADA systems for supervisory control and data acquisition
* Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and networks (e.g., EtherCAT, PROFINET, Modbus TCP/IP)
* Academic background: Master’s degree (or higher) in industrial, electrical, mechanical, or software engineering
* English fluent. Dutch is a plus.
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems and thermodynamics
* You demonstrate strong analytical and communication skills
