Context
In this pivotal role, you will act as the bridge between the sales team, external customers, and logistics subcontractors. Your primary mission is to optimize the flow of goods via inland waterways, ensuring cost-effectiveness and on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Transport Operations Management – oversee the end-to-end performance of barge shipments to external hubs and customers, monitoring Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Logistics KPIs.
RFQ & Feasibility Analysis – partner with the Sales Department to manage Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and analyze technical feasibility, including destination constraints, volume availability, and delivery timelines.
Capacity Planning – coordinate closely with subcontractors to align shipping volumes with hub capacities, monitoring loading/unloading constraints, storage availability, water levels, identifying potential shipping deviations, mitigating risks, and communicating changes to customers and internal stakeholders.
Process Optimization – drive continuous improvement in barge logistics by sourcing new operators, conducting market studies, managing new RFQ tenders to challenge current market costs, validating logistics invoices, managing operational costs, and handling claims related to external hub activities or barge operators.
Candidate Profile
Experience – a minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience in Transport, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management within a similar industrial sector.
Technical Skills – advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential; practical knowledge of SAP (SD module) is considered a significant advantage.
Soft Skills – excellent critical thinking capabilities with a strong analytical mindset; a team player who stays calm under pressure.
Communication – strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and coordinate across departments.
Languages – full professional proficiency in both English and French is mandatory; knowledge of German or other European languages is a plus.
