The European Development Finance Institutions Management Company (EDFI MC) is hiring a

Chief Partnerships Officer.


EDFI Management Company:

EDFI Management Company (EDFI MC) is an EU-funded hub to manage innovative development finance solutions.

EDFI MC operates on behalf of 10 European Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) to offer financial services to sustainable development projects led by the private sector in emerging and developing economies. EDFI MC's product portfolio includes investment solutions, technical assistance, co-financing vehicles, and risk-sharing instruments. All these financing instruments are designed to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement.

Concomitantly, EDFI MC works in close operational cooperation with relevant DFIs and the EU throughout the investment process.

EDFI Management Company is a multicultural organization with 50 employees located in Brussels. The staff consists of specialized investment professionals, relying on the support of various departments.

Your mission:

The Chief Partnership Officer will lead a team focused on business development and two corporate business lines: guarantees (€1,6 billion mandates under management) and syndications (€ 0,7 billion under management), in cooperation both with the European Commission and the DFIs and also other partner institutions like the European Investment Bank.

He or she will also be responsible for handling relations with stakeholders, with a focus on the European Commission (EC) and the European DFIs and raising new mandates. The development and delivery of innovative development finance products, especially blended finance solutions, is key to further developing EDFI MC’s business.

As a member of the management team and the operation committee, he or she will contribute to strategic decisions, preparation of Board matters and approval of transactions.


Key responsibilities:

* Implementation and management of guarantee and syndication facilities as well as business development via acquisition of new mandates. These roles include a wide set of functions:
* Management capabilities:

Business planning and budgeting

Team Management

Promotional activities and market the products among clients

Analysis and approval of deals following the internal decision process

Monitoring of the results and recommendations of external assessments

Accounting and reporting tasks together with Financal Department.

Ensure the development and deployment of new standards and requirements arising from funders, EDFIs etc. across the portfolio of products.

* Ensure a role of representation and outreach, including attendance to conferences and meetings, towards the EC, European DFIs and other partners.
* Build working relationships with the EC, European DFIs, EDFI Association and other stakeholders to promote EDFI MC’s business development.
* Development of new innovative financial products and services, preparation of applications and negotiation of new mandates, as well as follow-up, reporting and amendments to existing delegation agreements.
* Promote strategic alignment and complementarity with other stakeholders, above all European DFIs, in the business development activities, mainly in the definition of new products and business lines. Also provide them with advisory inputs for their interactions with the European Commission.
* Promote existing EDFI MC products and services with European DFIs as partners in delivery.
* Ensure the rationale of new mandates. They must fully match EDFI MC mission and vision and, at the same time, be quite workable under current corporate managing capacity.
* Lead and inspire the team and be a role model for the rest of colleagues.
* Support and advice the CEO in his functions, including corporate strategy, external representation, and others. Also report to the CEO and Management team on the performance of the facilities.


Required skills and experience.

The ideal candidate for the offered position offers the following qualifications:

* At least 5 years of successful experience in the same kind of position, including valuable experience in asset management companies, banks, capital markets, development finance institutions, multilateral development banks or similar institutions. Additional experience in business development or institutional relations is required.

At least 10 years of relevant work experience overall with progressive level of responsibility.

* Strong analytical and financial skills.
* Corporate finance knowledge and risk assessment capability
* Actual financial products or blended finance facilities development experience, preferably with a focus on private markets, that translate into track-record in creating business development results.
* Knowledge of European institutions and development finance institutions is a must for this position, as well as network building capacity.
* Ability engaging with relevant stakeholders including the EU institutions and national Development Financial Institutions.
* Strong network and track record of building relationships
* Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to effectively position EDFI MC and our agenda, i.e. speaking opportunities, partnerships, collaborations;
* Team management experience is required.
* Strong people management, coaching and leadership skills. Agreement and consensus-building capabilities.
* Outcome-focused and strong administrative skills with a proven ability to organise, manage and deliver projects on time and to budget
* To be adaptable and capable of contributing substantially to the resolution of unexpected and unanticipated problems.
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to summarise complex information effectively for a senior leadership audience.
* Fluent in English both written and spoken. A good command of at least one other European language will be considered.
* Candidates must be in possession of a valid work permit for Belgium
