FPGA ENGINEER - ANTWERP (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION
We're currently recruiting for an FPGA Engineer who will join an engineering team and play a key role in the design, development, and optimization of high-performance digital systems.
In this role, you will leverage FPGAs to build reliable, low-latency, and high-throughput hardware solutions that power complex applications in areas such as signal processing, communications, embedded systems, and hardware acceleration.
You will be responsible for transforming system requirements into efficient RTL implementations, ensuring designs meet strict timing, performance, and power constraints. This includes working across the full FPGA development lifecycle, from architectural design and coding through simulation and verification, to hardware bring-up and real-world testing on development boards and production systems. You will also engage in debugging and optimization at both the logic and board levels, using industry-standard FPGA toolchains and lab equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, implement, and verify FPGA-based digital circuits using hardware description languages (e.g. VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog).
* Develop and optimize RTL code for performance, power efficiency, and resource utilization.
* Create testbenches and perform simulation, functional verification, and timing analysis.
* Integrate FPGA designs with embedded processors, peripherals, and external interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, SPI, I2C, etc.).
* Work with hardware engineers to bring up FPGA prototypes and debug hardware/software integration issues.
* Develop and maintain FPGA tool flows using vendor tools (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus).
* Perform board-level debugging using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal generators.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including firmware, software, and system architects.
* Document design specifications, verification plans, and technical reports.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
* Strong experience in RTL design using Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog.
* Solid understanding of digital design fundamentals (state machines, pipelining, timing closure, clock domain crossing).
* Experience with FPGA development tools (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus).
* Proficiency in simulation and verification tools (ModelSim, QuestaSim, etc.).
* Experience debugging hardware using lab instruments.
* Familiarity with high-speed interfaces and protocols (PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, JESD204, etc.).
The Offer:
* A permanent, full-time employment contract
* A salary & benefits package commensurate with experience
