The opportunity
This is a senior role for an AI engineer who will build and lead the AI capability from the ground up. You will be the first hire focused on AI and will define the roadmap for integrating machine‑learning features into the ERP tool. The goal is to create a conversational assistant that lets users query their data in plain language, asking about inventory levels, order history or pricing and to automate data entry and generate real‑time insights that improve decision‑making.
What you’ll do
* Design and implement large language models (LLMs) and other AI techniques to query structured ERP data and return accurate, context‑aware answers.
* Build and maintain data pipelines that pull operational data from the ERP system and external sources (e.g. weather, logistics, market pricing) into a format suitable for machine learning.
* Develop a secure, account‑specific chatbot interface that respects each customer’s data privacy.
* Work closely with the core ERP team (built in C# and .NET) to integrate AI services into the platform.
* Deploy and manage AI workloads on Microsoft Azure, using Azure Machine Learning and related cloud services.
* Define the architecture and lay the foundation for future AI hires as the company expands.
What you bring
* At least 5 years of experience delivering AI/ML solutions end to end, ideally including natural‑language processing or conversational AI.
* Proficiency in Python and common machine‑learning frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch).
* Practical experience building or fine‑tuning large language models and building production chatbots.
* Strong data‑engineering skills with SQL and experience designing data pipelines.
* Familiarity with C# and the .NET ecosystem for integrating AI components into a legacy ERP system.
* Experience with cloud platforms (preferably Azure) and MLOps tools.
* Ability to work independently as the first AI specialist and later mentor new team members.
* Fluent English; Dutch is a plus but not essential.
* Based in Belgium with a willingness to spend at least two days per week in the office Hybrid work is available.
