Position
EUMETSAT (Darmstadt, Germany) contributes, with other organizations such as ESA and ECMWF, to the Destination Earth program. The program aims at deploying several highly accurate digital replicas of Earth to monitor and simulate natural and human activities and their interactions.
As part of the program. EUMETSAT is responsible for the Data Lake handling including user engagement activities. For the provision of the User Engagement Service, we are looking for an Earth Observation Data Services Engineer. The successful candidate will support the service by bringing software and applications technical expertise to the user engagement activities.

* Start date: At the earliest.
Tasks and Responsibilities
* User engagement:
o Identify and engage with communities suitable for DestinE Data Lake
o Document use cases
o Gather user recommendations
o Contribute to the moderation of the community forum
o Support events and webinars
* User support and training:
o Review and respond to user requests
o Review and improve available documentation
o Support the review, improvement and delivery of user training material
Skills and Experience
* University degree (or equivalent), in an Earth Observation, software or engineering domain
* At least 3 years proven hands-on experience in providing technical support to customers and/or users on the technologies mentioned below
* Knowledge and experience with the services or types of services and technologies used by the Destination Earth Data Lake, including:
o Hosted applications and environments such as JupyterHub, Dask/Dask Gateway, Open Data Cube)
o Cloud computing environments such as Open Stack
* Very good inter-personal and communication skills to be able to interface efficiently with the stakeholders and users
* Be able to work calmly and correctly under stress
* Excellent written and spoken English
