About the Role
We’re partnered with a leading industrial engineering company involved in large-scale equipment design and plant modification projects across Belgium. They’re looking for a Freelance Mechanical Engineer with strong Autodesk Inventor skills to support detailed design, optimisation, and installation phases on-site.
You’ll play a key role in designing mechanical systems, machinery layouts, and supporting structures for automated production lines and industrial installations.
Key Responsibilities
* Create and modify 3D models and detailed mechanical drawings using Autodesk Inventor
* Design and optimise mechanical assemblies, frames, piping layouts, and equipment supports
* Collaborate with process, electrical, and automation engineers to ensure full system integration
* Conduct mechanical calculations and material selections for industrial applications
* Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases
* Ensure all designs comply with industry, safety, and quality standards
Requirements
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment (e.g. chemicals, food & beverage, or energy)
* Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (3D modelling, assemblies, BOMs, drawing creation)
* Experience with industrial equipment, mechanical design, or plant layout
* Good understanding of fabrication and installation requirements
* Fluent in English; Dutch or French a plus
