Position summary:
The Technical product manager Racking systems is responsible for a wide variety of duties, technical, commercial and administrative, to assist the coordination of the activities related to procurement and evaluation for PV modules as well as PV mounting systems, as trackers and fixed racking, for worldwide projects, executing certain procurement activities in accordance with Recurrent Energy’s purchasing procedures, which requires a competitive procurement process to be held.
He/she will support managing the technical evaluation processes, coordinating internal reviews with the different departments and supporting the responses with the bidders.
He/she will assist the global Procurement Director to implement the global Procurement strategy, with communication with Suppliers and internally with regional teams and headquarter personnel abroad to assist with needs and support
Responsibilities:
* As Product specialist, perform Technical Due Diligence (TDD) of the equipment as part of the Suppliers validation process, as well as leading the Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) of the products.
* Review and summarize technical product information for bid packages and make a Supplier recommendation within RE stakeholders
* Assist Procurement and Engineering team in technical review of the technical proposals submitted by Suppliers during the bidding processes, and during the detailed engineering of the project.
* Research, analyze and capture customer and market requirements for existing and new racking products by communicating with Suppliers and Regional teams, by reading other information sources and transferring these requirements into product and roadmap proposals. Present proposals to internal stakeholders to gain approval.
* Managed tracker / PV module ecosystem to ensure tracker remains optimized to PV module technology
* Obtain market intelligence and analyze respectively to perform subsequently cost estimation for product and projects
* Interact and support financial modelling, attending all items related to the technology for CAPEX and OPEX analysis
* Engineered end-to-end applications supporting Utility and Commercial projects
* Determine technical requirements that influence a project design that include: wind loading, snow loading, seismic loading and corrosion.
* Establish site specific design requirements for a project and design the tracker configuration to meet customer requirements.
* Work with project’s regional teams to iterate through project design parameters to field the most cost optimized racking system for a project.
* Follow codes and certifications as they develop; analyze their impact on the market and specific products; make recommendations to management on how to leverage these developments to CSI’s benefit.
* Communicate and train internal and external stakeholders in regards of product details and specifications, product advantages, product applications and product benchmark among competitors.
* Prepare content and materials to conduct product presentations, training sessions, webinars and other events.
* Assist in obtaining market intelligence data from different sources and generate adequate reports
* Assist in price forecasting based on previous pricing and projected pricing as per market intelligence and reports
* Review and confirm the adequate compatibility of use for the PV modules and the respective racking system
* Assist in the preparation of Request for Proposal (RFP) packages for the equipment selection process
* Understand product manufacturing processes, certification status and other product details and implement in our specifications the opportunities of improvement of the equipment obtained for the utility scale projects
* Adhere to all health and safety rules and regulations,
* Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Canadian Solar Solution Code of Business Conduct.
* Perform other related duties as assigned by management in the contents of its position.
Requirements:
Education/Certifications:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline is required; a graduate degree is strongly preferred, ideally in Mechanical Engineering.
Professional Qualifications:
* Minimum 1 year’s experience working directly with PV tracker, fixed racking, PV modules technology experience is a must.
* Fluent in English/Spanish.
* Strong understanding of mechanical and structural systems, including capability to perform detailed engineering review of structural calculations and wind tunnel test reports.
* Desired knowledge of PVSyst software
* Excellent knowledge of Autocad software and Office automation software
* Excellent technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn detailed information about the existing product portfolio and to communicate and answer technical and product related questions and topics.
* Understanding and application of financial product calculation – product cost and product sales price definition, analysis and recommendation.
* Excellent social and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work with others effectively, locally and also over multiple time zones and different cultures.
* Ability / Willingness to travel (up to 15%, also internationally).
* Excellent organizational, strategic planning and implementation skills.
* In addition, this role will require strong analytical and financial capabilities, being process oriented and attentive to detail.
