About the Role
You will be part of the Innovation team, developing Proof‑of‑Concepts within various R&D projects. The role involves deploying data processing frameworks and developing artificial intelligence algorithms (Deep learning, Reinforcement learning). You will also contribute to the development of AI within Thales Belgium and support the building and operation of an AI lab.
Main Responsibilities
* Collect and/or emulate data;
* Develop software to process these data and make them usable by our AI;
* Elaborate and train AI models and coach junior data scientists within the team;
* Participate in the development of AI within Thales Belgium, e.g. by building & operating an AI lab;
* Write technical reports.
Technical Requirements
* Experience and good knowledge of Python (Tensorflow/Keras, Pandas, Numpy, Scipy, Scikit‑learn, Matplotlib);
* Experience and good knowledge of SQL querying;
* A good knowledge of common statistical models and machine learning algorithms used in data science;
* Understanding of Hadoop/Cloudera framework, including HDFS, Hive, Impala, Spark;
* Experience and good knowledge of Linux OS and scripting techniques (Bash/Ksh).
General Qualifications
* Excellent presentation and communication skills;
* Experience with writing reports and publications related to AI topics in MS Word and/or LaTeX;
* Ability to understand business needs and analyze data;
* A Master’s degree or PhD in data science with an AI focus, or relevant experience;
* Fluency in English is mandatory.
