The HV Quality Lead (Substation) is responsible for leading the Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) programs for high-voltage substation construction projects serving hyperscale data centers. This role ensures that all electrical installations—including transformers, switchgear, cabling, and GIS/AIS equipment—are installed, tested, and commissioned to meet stringent client standards, technical specifications, and international regulatory requirements. The Lead will drive a zero-defect culture and ensure the seamless turnover of electrical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management Plan (QMP) Implementation:
Develop, maintain, and enforce project-specific quality plans and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
Site Inspections & Testing:
Lead field inspections of primary/secondary HV equipment and civil interfaces (earthing, duct banks). Monitor installation methods and workmanship to minimize punch lists.
Commissioning Support:
Oversee and witness FAT/SAT (Factory/Site Acceptance Testing), including HV cable testing, insulation resistance, and relay testing.
Document Control & Turnover:
Review technical documentation, as-built drawings, and test records to compile comprehensive handover packages for client approval.
Non-Conformance Management:
Identify, document, and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), driving root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Stakeholder Coordination:
Act as the primary technical point of contact for quality queries between subcontractors, client representatives, and internal engineering teams.
Safety Leadership:
Ensure all QA/QC activities comply with health and safety standards, particularly regarding energized data center environments and lockout/tagout procedures.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience:
7+ years in QA/QC management, with at least 3 years focused on high-voltage (HV/MV) substations, ideally in the data center or critical power sector.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of HV electrical systems (110kV+), AIS/GIS switchgear, transformers, protection and control schemes.
Standards Familiarity:
Proficient in IEC, IEEE, and local standards (e.g., [insert local codes like NEC/BS/VDE]).
Documentation Skills:
Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., [Procore, BIM 360, Bluebeam]).
Leadership:
Strong ability to mentor junior inspectors and influence subcontractor behavior toward quality.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience. xphnsxz
