We are looking for a Global Laboratory Expert who is strategic, technically strong, and collaborative to join our team, based at our UCB campus located in Braine‑l’Alleud, Belgium.
About the role
You are going to act as the global reference for laboratory equipment and activities at UCB. You will define and drive a global strategy for laboratory Global Technical standards from capital projects to the end of life of a laboratory asset (Physical Asset lifecycle). You will influence design, innovation, and lifecycle management of laboratory assets while supporting project teams and fostering technical excellence across UCB sites worldwide.
Who you will work with
You will collaborate closely with Engineering Project teams, Design Engineering Leads, and Physical Asset Management teams. You are going to work with internal stakeholders across UCB sites as well as external experts, suppliers, and industry networks. You will act as a technical reference and connect to a global network of laboratory scientists and engineering specialists.
What you will do
1. You will define and drive a global laboratory strategy aligned with engineering, maintenance and business priorities.
2. You will be responsible for developing technical standards including safety, regulatory, and sustainability aspects.
3. You will support and manage aspects related to both the laboratory environment and its equipment, including technical specifications, from project phase through to end of life of these assets.
4. You will ensure compliance with cGxP, pharmacopeia, and engineering standards across all implementations.
5. You will lead and connect a global network of experts to share best practices and innovations.
6. You will contribute to technology evolution, innovation, and digitalization in laboratory equipment lifecycle.
Interested? For this role, we are looking for the following education, experience, and skills
7. Master’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
8. Strong experience in laboratory equipment and engineering systems within regulated environments.
9. Knowledge of cGxP, validation (V-cycle, ASTM E2500), and engineering standards.
10. Good knowledge of different laboratory working environments (e.g. pathogenic, ionizing, radioactive, explosive environments)
11. Experience in large, complex engineering projects and cross‑functional collaboration.
12. Ability to interpret needs into solutions, strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
13. Fluency in French and English
