Description de l'offre

Make your mark for patients

We are looking for an Engineering Safety Lead who is passionate about safety culture, skilled in influencing positive behaviors, and committed to continuous improvement to join our Global Engineering team, based at our UCB campus located in Braine-l'Alleud, Belgium.

About the role:
You will play a pivotal role in shaping and embedding a strong safety culture across our global engineering organization. You are going to inspire safe behaviors, empower teams to take ownership of safety, and integrate safety thinking into every stage of engineering project delivery.

* This role is pivotal in leading a shift from compliance-driven safety to a deeply embedded, values-based safety culture within global engineering projects.
* You will serve as the central safety contact for all engineering projects, acting as a key influencer and change agent across geographies and functions.

Who you will work with:
You will collaborate with diverse engineering teams and stakeholders worldwide. You are going to engage with colleagues at all levels, fostering open dialogue and trust, and ensuring safety is at the heart of every project.

What you will do:

* You will champion a "Safety First" mindset and act as a role model for safe behaviors.
* You will be responsible for developing and delivering impactful safety campaigns and awareness programs.
* You will manage the integration of safety into design, planning, and execution phases of engineering projects.
* You will lead root cause analysis of incidents, focusing on learning and sharing best practices.
* You will ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and maintain up-to-date safety documentation.
* You will drive continuous improvement by monitoring safety culture indicators and proposing actionable improvements.
* You will ensure that safety is integrated into every stage of engineering—from design concept through project execution and operational handover.
* You will lead or oversee key safety methodologies such as HAZID (Hazard Identification), HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Studies), and risk assessments during the design phase.
* You will guide teams through root cause analysis (RCA) processes with a focus on systemic learning, not individual blame.
* You will monitor and analyze safety culture indicators (e.g., near-miss reporting, campaign engagement) to proactively identify gaps and drive improvement actions.
* You will maintain critical safety documentation such as incident reports, safety plans, and regulatory compliance records in line with local and international standards (GxP, ISO, OSHA).

Interested? For this role, we are looking for the following education, experience, and skills:

* Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field; PMI or equivalent certification preferred.
* 5+ years in safety leadership roles within engineering or industrial environments.
* Proven track record in driving cultural change and influencing behaviors.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage diverse teams.
* Ability to lead through influence rather than authority, with knowledge of behavioral safety principles.
* Experience in hazard identification, risk assessment, and change management.
* Experience collaborating in complex, matrixed environments and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
* Knowledge of global regulatory frameworks and behavioral safety principles.
* Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving cross-functional alignment around safety strategy.
