The Opportunity:
We are working with an innovative engineering company operating within advanced industrial technology, developing high-performance inspection and detection systems used across global markets.
They are looking for a System Engineer to take ownership of optical and imaging systems within a multidisciplinary R&D environment.
This is a key role where you’ll contribute to next-generation technology development and play a central part in driving innovation.
The Role:
As a System Engineer, you will act as the internal expert for optics, lighting, and detection systems, working closely with teams across software, electronics, mechanics, and applications.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and model optical systems (lighting, sensors, camera setups)
* Perform simulations, ray tracing, and optical calculations
* Define and execute validation and test plans
* Select and evaluate components, suppliers, and technologies
* Document designs, analysis, and performance results
* Explore emerging technologies within optics, photonics, and machine vision
* Contribute to new concept development and innovation projects
* Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams
* Support internal stakeholders with technical expertise
* Contribute to design reviews and product development discussions
Your Profile:
* Master’s degree in Optics, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
* Experience with optical design tools (e.g. Zemax, TracePro, LightTools)
* Strong understanding of imaging systems, lighting, and spectral analysis
* Solid background in simulations, ray tracing, and tolerance analysis
* Experience with optical measurement equipment is advantageous
* Exposure to machine xphnsxz vision, lasers, or hyperspectral imaging is a plus
* Basic CAD knowledge (e.g. SolidWorks or Creo) is beneficial
* Programming skills (Python or MATLAB) are an advantage
