Be part of a dynamic development team responsible for our client’s business-critical SCADA system operating 24/7 to keep our power perimeter balanced in Belgium, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. We aim to extend the geographical scope and integrate more and more smaller and very flexible assets.
We develop tools to support the real-time control of power plants, to integrate flexibility assets, and to comply with European grid codes to support the energy transition. Our tools are mainly used to:
Monitor the production assets and available capacities from our power plants.
Provide information between TSO’s and real-time SCADA system (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition).
Calculate real-time setpoints to send to power plants to keep the balance of the perimeter based on the production plan and real-time acquisition. Inputs include FCR, aFRR, and mFRR:
FCR: Frequency Containment Reserve.
aFRR: Automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve.
mFRR: Manual Frequency Restoration Reserve.

Your specific role
The application used to provide the services to our customers is Hitachi ABB MicroSCADA SYS600 version X (MicroSCADA X SYS600 | Hitachi Energy).
The backend development language within MicroSCADA is proprietary:
SCIL
(Supervisory Control Implementation Language) and the frontend is web based.
As a developer, your role is to:
Develop and maintain our
SCADA X
(Hitachi Energy MicroSCADA X) that keeps the power perimeter in balance.
Work on both
front-end and back-end
development using SCIL, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript.
Apply
architectural design principles
to build scalable and robust solutions.
Apply
software craftsmanship
principles (SOLID, DRY, KISS, YAGNI) to build clean, maintainable, and resilient code.
Collaborate in an
Agile/SAFe
environment with analysts, dispatchers, and technical teams.
Contribute to
on-call support
(after onboarding) to ensure system availability and grid stability.
Requested profile
You have a
master’s degree
specializing in IT and/or electrical engineering (e.g., ingénieur civil, burgelijk ingenieur, industrial engineer, software, electronics or electromecanics).
You have at least
3 years of relevant experience .
You possess an industrial mindset combined with strong software engineering skills (good architecture, design patterns).
You understand the basics of electricity production and grid transport.
You adopt a
proactive and structured approach
to your work, ensuring stability in a high-responsibility environment and remaining available for critical issues.
You are
solution‑driven
and
feel responsible

And on the technical level
You have some knowledge of basic programming languages. Training “SYS 600 SCIL Programming Basics” will be provided early at the start of the mission.
SCIL development for the backend.
Web development for the front‑end (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript / TypeScript).
Version control and CI/CD implementation (supported by GitHub).
Be aware of cybersecurity principles in industrial control systems (ICS) and operational technology (OT) environments; compliance with NIS 2 regulation is required.
The team will support you in the first months to improve your programming in our specific environment.
