Job Overview

Healthcare Professionals are needed to provide medical services to supplement the medical staff in support of the Military Treatment Facilities and Health Clinics within the U.S. Army Medical Command, Regional Health Command Europe, and other Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, including the US Navy and US Air Forces in Europe.


Qualifications

5. Degree: Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapist.
6. Education: Graduate from a School of Social Work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) or a Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or as otherwise identified in the TO.
7. Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements as specified in the service-specific credentialing instruction, plus two years beyond the degree of direct experience in child maltreatment, child abuse prevention, dysfunctional couples, families experiencing stress, violent hostile individual clients, parenting programs, or related areas.Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

8. Supports the Army’s New Parent Support Program (NPSP) for expectant and new parents augments and expands the existing Family Advocacy Program (FAP); Army Regulation (AR) 608-18.Coordinate appropriate referrals to community and other Government agencies for services.Independently assess the psychosocial functioning and needs of clients and their family members and formulate and implement a treatment plan, identifying the client’s problems, strengths, weaknesses, coping skills, and assistance needed, in collaboration with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary treatment team.
9. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of family growth and strengths, stages of child development, and the emotional needs and stresses of deployment, separation, homecoming, and reunion.
10. Provide and establish a clear and productive learning environment.
11. Demonstrate the ability to use tact and sensitivity while establishing a clear and productive learning environment.
12. Use computer software and automation systems.
13. Perform home visits, assessments, and interviews, teach, train, and implement prevention programs in a military/DoD community.
14. Screen all referrals to determine risk level.
15. Conduct a family assessment and, from the assessment results, develop a service plan with the family.
16. Primarily provide secondary/tertiary prevention services to at-risk and high-risk families.
17. Coordinate services with other community service providers, as appropriate.
18. Provide coordinated services independently and as a team member.
19. Respond to the need for services at appropriate times which may involve activities at times other than during normal duty hours.
20. Intervention services will be based upon the Nurturing Parenting Program, which assists parents in creating an environment that is nurturing to themselves and their infants and young children.
21. Provide reports to the FAPM/CRC case managers.
22. Facilitate playgroups and parenting groups as time permits.
23. Be familiar with AR 608-18, The Army Family Advocacy Program, 20 Oct 04, and mandated reporting requirements
24. Review all cases with the FAPM.
25. Collect and record program evaluation data.
26. Collect, organize, record, and forward required statistical and narrative reports, promptly.
27. Maintain case files and document all activities.
28. Participate in ongoing and periodic professional development activities to maintain licensure.
29. Perform other duties as assigned.

DOCPER/SOFA/Logistical Support Status

This position is not eligible for support under NATO Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) supplemental agreement articles 72 or 73.
