Ph3The opportunity /h3 pEnterprise productivity across Europe is under pressure. As complexity increases through geopolitical shifts, labour constraints, and tighter operational interdependencies, many organisations observe that AI and optimization efforts improve local efficiency but fail to deliver structural, enterprise-level gains. /p pAt Superlinear, we work on this gap through enterprise orchestration: enabling better bsystem-level decision‑making /b across people, processes, and machines in environments where siloed optimization no longer works. /p pIn our earliest pilots with leading European enterprises, we observe that moving from local optimization to coordinated, enterprise‑wide decisions can unlock significant latent capacity. Productivity gains in the range of 10–30% are achievable by reducing systemic friction rather than adding infrastructure. /p pThe 500 largest European enterprises represent roughly €14 trillion in economic output. This role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the foundations of benterprise orchestration in Europe’s most critical organisations /b. /p h3The role /h3 pAs our Software Engineer specialized in Mathematical Optimization, you'll be building the mathematical engines that solve large‑scale industrial optimization problems. You'll work on challenges where optimal solutions can drive millions in economic value. /p h3What You’ll Build /h3 h3Optimization Solutions /h3 ul liModel complex real‑world problems as constraint programming problems /li liDetermine the model scope to maximise impact while guaranteeing tractability /li liDecompose large‑scale problems to achieve tractability /li liDesign hard and soft constraints to achieve real‑world feasibility /li liDesign (lexicographic) objectives to achieve maximal real‑world impact /li liImplement multi‑objective optimisation with Pareto frontier computation /li /ul h3Natural Languages Interfaces /h3 ul liDesign Python APIs to make constraint programming accessible to developers /li liDesign Python APIs to enable Large Language Models to implement and modify optimisation models /li liDesign Natural Language Interfaces that enable business users to efficiently mitigate operational disruptions /li liDesign Natural Language Interfaces that enable business users to simulate and compare different scenarios /li liDesign Natural Language Interfaces that provide intuitive explanations for decision proposals /li /ul h3Scalable Solver Algorithms /h3 ul liDesign compilers that translate high‑level optimisation problem representations into efficient constraint programmes /li liDesign (meta‑)algorithms that prioritise finding good feasible solutions quickly /li liApply Reinforcement Learning to accelerate optimisation algorithms /li liDesign distributed optimisation solvers wherein multiple strategies collaborate to find good feasible solutions /li /ul h3Robust Software /h3 ul liDevelop robust and maintainable Python packages and APIs for optimisation /li liDevelop benchmarks and evaluate software performance on those benchmarks /li liBuild comprehensive test suites that validate correctness and robustness /li liImplement monitoring and observability for optimisation systems /li /ul h3Who You Are /h3 h3Essential Experience /h3 ul liBackground in Mathematical Optimization through academic or industry experience /li liIdeally experienced with Constraint Programming, though strong expertise in Operations Research, Metaheuristics, or Convex Optimization is equally valuable /li liProven Python programming skills with production‑quality code /li liTrack record of solving real‑world optimisation problems /li liAptitude to translate business requirements into mathematical models /li /ul h3Skills That Matter /h3 ul liExperience with optimisation solvers (OR‑Tools, Choco, Gurobi, CPLEX, etc.) /li liOperations Research techniques and Mixed‑Integer Linear Programming /li liMetaheuristics /li liExperience with large‑scale distributed optimisation /li liAPI design and developer experience /li liKnowledge of Large Language Models and their potential applications /li liReinforcement learning /li liFluency in English; any other languages is a plus /li /ul h3Mindset Approach /h3 ul liPragmatic problem‑solving mindset /li liClear communication of complex concepts to diverse stakeholders /li liPassion for applying mathematical techniques to real‑world impact /li liInterest in pushing the boundaries of what's computationally possible /li /ul h3Why this role matters /h3 pYou’ll be working on optimisation problems that directly impact critical European infrastructure and enterprises.
