As Director of the Data Cluster, you will lead the teams that deliver our core data & AI platforms, reusable datasets, and architectural expertise that empower every part of the business — from digital product teams and marketing to commercials and customer operations. The Data Cluster is part of the Unified Data & AI Tribe that is responsible for Data, Insights, AI and Governance for the full company, with a mission to get maximum value from Data & AI for our business.
Your mission? To steer a large, diverse, and highly skilled team toward one simple goal: delivering trustworthy, purpose-driven data and platform services to internal stakeholders — ensuring their needs are met with scalable, tailored, and reusable capabilities that power real business outcomes.
This role calls for a visionary leader with a strong grip on budget and portfolio management, an understanding of modern data architecture and data product thinking, and the ability to coach managers while navigating complex stakeholder dynamics. You will ensure the data build capability is in perfect lockstep with Telenet’s evolving business priorities — reliable, scalable, and business-centric.
You’ll oversee three core functional areas:
1. Three dataset product teams, each led by a Product Owner, responsible for turning data from across the company into reusable, high-quality datasets.
2. One platform and architecture team, led by a Product Owner, providing the cloud and software capabilities underpinning our Data & AI efforts.
3. One data operations team, led by a Service Delivery Manager who reports directly to you, ensuring our vast landscape of data & AI assets is monitored, supported, and running reliably.
Your direct reports will include three dataset Product Owners, one Platform & Architecture Product Owner, one Service Delivery Manager for data operations, and one Talent Lead responsible for managing internal talent within the cluster. 4. Collaborate and lead horizontally within the Data & AI leadership team under the Data & AI VP — working closely with peers across Insights, AI, and Governance to align strategy, share capabilities, and steer the overall Data & AI Tribe toward shared business outcomes.
5. Own and steer a broad data capability that includes data engineering, analytics engineering, platform engineering, and architectural services — all structured around reusable data products and internal-facing services.
6. Manage a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring alignment, performance, and professional development across a wide spectrum of technical & non-technical roles.
7. Work closely with strategic IT partners, as a significant part of the engineering capability is delivered through partnerships, complemented by internal analysts, specialist architects, and analytics engineers.
8. Translate strategic business goals into technical direction, shaping a portfolio of capabilities that evolve with Telenet’s needs and create measurable business impact.
9. Ensure our services are data consumer–centric, balancing high technical quality with usability, responsiveness, and tailored service to business teams.
10. Drive financial accountability, overseeing budgets, resource allocation, and investment decisions across the data build function.
11. Foster data product thinking across all services — owning data and platform products end-to-end, designed to serve internal consumers with clear value and support.
12. Act as a strategic partner to the business, ensuring that your teams provide the right architectural insights and services to internal stakeholders — accelerating key initiatives and supporting innovation through reusable data assets, while acting as the crucial bridge between business context and technical capabilities.
13. Coach and develop your direct reports — a team of strong delivery managers (Product Owners, Service Delivery Manager) and a Talent Lead — helping them grow into strategic, value-driven leaders.
14. Lead strategic workforce management together with your Talent Lead and Product Owners — ensuring sustainable staffing, role clarity, performance, and skills development across the cluster. You will balance current delivery needs with long-term performance and wellbeing goals.
