Call for Application: Advocacy Officer (f/m/x)
Full-time | Location : Brussels, BelgiumThe European Society of Radiology (ESR) is seeking a proactive and strategic Advocacy Officerto enhance its presence in Brussels and deepen engagement with EU institutions andstakeholders. This role is central to supporting ESR's efforts to shape European healthcarepolicy in the field of medical imaging.
Responsibilities• Policy Monitoring & Analysis: Monitor EU legislative and policy developments relevantto healthcare and radiology. Provide timely insights and policy analysis to support ESRadvocacy strategies.• Advocacy Strategy Development: Design and implement advocacy initiatives.Contribute to the overall strategic direction of ESR's EU engagement.• Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with EU institutions(European Commission, European Parliament, Council), NGOs, professionalassociations, and other health-related stakeholders.• Representation Communication: Actively engage with stakeholders and participate atexternal meetings, forums, and high-level events. Draft policy briefs, position papers,consultation responses, and advocacy communications.• Internal Coordination: Collaborate regularly with ESR headquarters in Vienna andcoordinate closely with member organisations and expert committees to ensurecohesive advocacy efforts.
Qualifications• Education: University degree in political science, European affairs, public health, law, ora related discipline.• Experience: At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in EU public affairs, advocacy, orpolicy analysis, preferably in the healthcare or life sciences sectors.• EU Knowledge: Solid understanding of EU institutions, legislative procedures, and theBrussels policy environment. Familiarity with European health policy is a strong asset.• Languages: Excellent command of English is required. Additional EU languages (e.g.German, French, Dutch) are considered an asset.• Skills & Attributes:o Excellent written and verbal communicationo Political sensitivity and strategic thinkingo Ability to synthesise complex information clearly and persuasivelyo Strong sense of initiative and independenceo Comfortable working autonomously in Brussels, while coordinating with aheadquarters based in Viennao Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work solo and as part of a distributedteamo Willingness to occasionally travel between Brussels and Vienna or otherlocations in Europe as required
