Job Description
The Project Engineering Team Lead is responsible for overseeing and guiding the project engineering team to deliver high-quality customer projects on time, within scope, and within budget. This role involves managing the technical execution, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring that engineering deliverables meet company standards. The Project Engineering Team Lead will serve as both a technical expert and a leadership figure, driving innovation and continuous improvement within the Customer Solutions Delivery department.
Objective 1 – Leadership and Team Management
1. Lead, mentor, and develop a multi-disciplinary team of engineers.
2. Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on skills and project requirements.
3. Foster a collaborative team environment, ensuring effective communication, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.
Objective 2 – Technical Project Management
4. Oversee multiple customer engineering projects from concept through completion.
5. Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budgets.
6. Track project performance, ensuring adherence to goals, schedules, and quality & compliance standards.
7. Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
8. Communicate project updates, progress, and challenges to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Objective 3 – Technical Guidance
9. Provide technical direction and support for project teams.
10. Ensure engineering solutions meet industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
11. Conduct design reviews, technical analyses, risk assessments and feasibility studies to guide the team toward innovative solutions.
12. Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating best practices into project execution.
Objective 4 – Stakeholder Management
13. Collaborate with other departments (, R&D, production, procurement, quality) to ensure smooth project execution.
14. Liaise with external clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure that engineering deliverables align with contractual requirements and expectations.
15. Resolve any engineering issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
About you:
16. Proficient in 2D drawing and 3D modelling. A working knowledge of Solidworks is essential.
17. 5+ years industry experience in a design related role and 2+ years in a team lead or management position.
18. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical or Manufacturing.
19. Experience in the food industry, or similar, is beneficial but not essential.
20. Design for manufacture experience essential.
21. A keen eye and appreciation for detail.
22. Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
23. A proven problem-solving ability.
