Finance Expert Role
Every day, millions of kilograms of plastics end up in nature. Unfortunately, these materials do not decompose and persist indefinitely, causing harm to people, animals, and the environment.
We envision a world where rivers are free of plastics. As our Finance Expert, you will play a crucial part in this journey by ensuring excellent financial management. You will collaborate closely with key stakeholders, including the Head of Partnerships, COO, and CEO/Founder.
River Cleanup started in 2017 with a simple cleanup initiative and was founded in 2019 as a nonprofit organization. In our first five years (2019-2024), we mobilized 288,000 volunteers through 6,224 events in 101 countries, removing 3.6 million kilograms of river waste from nature and developing the Clean River Model, an open-source theory of change for plastic-free rivers.
The Clean River Model comprises three pillars (Empower people, Prevent pollution, and Accelerate change) and three enablers (Assessment, Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation). Together, they cover the entire lifecycle of river plastics. We are currently validating the Clean River Model in three action zones and aim to scale up its implementation to 100 rivers by 2030.
