We are seeking a Raw Material Scientist to join a renown biopharmaceutical company for a long term consultancy mission. The position is based in Walloon Brabant with two days’ work onsite/week.
In this role, you’ll be a technical lead for raw material strategy across biologics and gene therapy development. You’ll drive risk assessments, define controls, and collaborate across teams to ensure process robustness, cost efficiency, and regulatory readiness.
🔍 Key Responsibilities
* Develop risk assessment strategies to identify critical/key raw materials; maintain related databases and dashboards
* Support QbD initiatives by creating guidelines and templates
* Define and implement mitigation controls across the raw material lifecycle (production, shipping, storage, usage)
* Collaborate with process teams to introduce new raw materials (supplier selection, specifications, shelf life)
* Optimize raw material usage with process development and clinical manufacturing teams
* Lead expert communities to share knowledge, identify gaps, and build future strategies
* Author and review technical documents (CMC sections, SOPs, reports, position papers)
* Gather insights from investigations, literature, and industry trends to propose alternatives and improvements
* Collaborate internally and externally to stay updated on regulatory and quality developments
* Work cross-functionally within the CMC Development Sciences organization as needed
1. ✅ Required Skills & Experience
* 4+ years’ experience in the biopharma industry in process development
* Strong project coordination and meeting management skills
* Solid understanding of upstream/downstream bioprocesses (UPS DSP)
* Technical experience in biologics or gene therapy
* General knowledge of antibody purification and techniques such as affinity chromatography is a plus
* Excellent interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
