Freelance Senior Accountant Position. This position sits within the central finance team and will involve both hands-on accounting work and light coaching responsibilities for a small group of junior accountants. Manage general accounting operations including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end and year-end closings.
Ensure compliance with Belgian GAAP and group accounting policies, maintaining accurate financial records for local and consolidated reporting.
Prepare VAT declarations, tax filings, and statutory documentation in collaboration with external auditors and advisors.
Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports, providing analysis on variances and key performance indicators.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (procurement, billing, and operations) to resolve accounting discrepancies and improve process efficiency.
Review and validate postings prepared by junior accountants, offering guidance, feedback, and day-to-day coaching to ensure quality and consistency.
Assist in ad-hoc financial projects and provide operational support to the Finance Manager during peak closing periods.
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally within a corporate or industrial environment. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Strong understanding of Belgian GAAP ; Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
Advanced knowledge of Excel and familiarity with financial reporting tools.
Good communication skills and the ability to support and guide junior team members.
