This role involves providing assistance with software and hardware issues, ensuring that all technological resources operate effectively and efficiently. As a collaborative team player, the ITS Applications Technician contributes to maintaining high standards of IT support, helping ensure a seamless and positive technology experience across the school community. Areas of responsibilities: Software and Networking Install, customise, and maintain software application packages on both networked and standalone systems; remove redundant materials as necessary. Assist with network management tasks, including user access rights, policies, profiles, printer queues, device configuration, and regular backups. Maintain the software and hardware asset database. Implement and follow appropriate procedures to keep the school virus-free. Demonstrate a solid understanding of the OSI model and familiarity with ITIL and PRINCE2 methodologies. Possess sound knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems. Possess sound knowledge of macOS and iOS operating systems. Demonstrate strong knowledge of Office 365. Experience with Linux is an advantage. Hardware Ensure the correct operation of all classroom and conference room setups. Set up new workstations (desktops, laptops, and tablets) and required peripheral devices. Maintain the hardware database (Alloy Asset Navigator). Install and maintain network equipment to optimise performance. Perform day-to-day maintenance and troubleshooting. Liaise with external hardware service agents to ensure repairs beyond in-house capability are completed efficiently, including packing, shipping, and reinstalling repaired items. Set up projectors, interactive boards, and Active Panels. Manage the configuration and deployment of Apple iPads and student-assigned Windows 10 laptops. Demonstrate familiarity with ISO/IEC standards, best practices, and limitations of A/V equipment. Configure and maintain Miracast, Promethean ActivConnect, Apple TV, and similar technologies. Maintain and configure AV automation systems such as Crestron. Helpdesk Support Manage the ITS telephone helpdesk and incoming support tickets. Provide end-user support in classrooms and offices. Update and maintain the central Knowledge Base. Work as part of a dynamic, collaborative team. Show eagerness to learn and stay current in an ever-evolving IT environment. Oversee the student 1:1 school laptop program (Years 7–9), working directly with students, staff, and service agents. Undertake individual specialisations and assigned project work as required. Experience Minimum of 5 years in IT, with substantial expertise in network infrastructure, server management, and virtualisation technologies. Audio/V Skills Database management/development skills Experience in supporting/maintaining applications and database systems. Expertise in scripting languages and programming. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Experience delivering user training. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams. Desirable ITIL or PRINCE2 certification. Advanced knowledge of database servers (SQL Server, DB2, MySQL, Access) and experience with SQL Reporting Services. Programming skills in Python, Java, C++, PowerShell, .NET, C#, VB, or JavaScript. Web development experience (HTML, CSS, ASP.NET, ASP, PHP, IIS, Apache, Graph). Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure. Experience with Crestron and/or AV automation systems programming/configuration. Specialisation in audio/visual technologies, including installation, operation, and maintenance best practices.
