IT Functional Analyst Long-Term Contract | Day Rate | Belgium

The Role
This is a long-term contract opportunity to play a pivotal role in modernising application systems for BE Customs. You will act as the key link between business stakeholders and the technical solution provider, translating operational requirements into precise functional specifications that drive application development and change delivery.
This is a hands-on, structured role where clarity and communication are just as important as analytical skill. Key Responsibilities
Requirements Gathering
Collaborate with customer stakeholders to understand, document and validate clear functional requirements.
Produce detailed functional design documents including use cases, process flows, workflows, GUI designs and wireframes.
Change Management
Support change requests by ensuring requirements are fully documented and approved by all relevant stakeholders before implementation begins.
Assess the impact of proposed changes on existing functionality and guide delivery teams through the implementation process.
Stakeholder Communication
Act as the reliable connection between non-technical business stakeholders and technical teams, translating requirements and constraints in both directions.
Facilitate workshops and sign-off sessions to keep all parties aligned throughout the project lifecycle.
Quality Assurance and Acceptance
Define clear acceptance criteria for each change and develop test plans to verify that delivered functionality meets the agreed specifications.
Support User Acceptance Testing and work with stakeholders to manage sign-off.
Documentation
~ Specify what documentation is required from the solution provider as part of each delivery, and ensure it is produced to the required standard.
Skills and Experience
Essential
A minimum of three years in functional or business analysis, preferably in application-focused environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with a track record of breaking down complex requirements and producing structured, actionable specifications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable engaging stakeholders at all levels.
Trilingual: fluent in Dutch, French, and English.
Solid understanding of Agile and Scrum delivery methodologies.
Proficient in producing functional documentation including specifications, user stories and process workflows.
Demonstrable experience working with major business-critical applications.
Desirable
Familiarity with cloud environments such as Azure and their implications for application deployment.
Experience with Docker containers and virtual environments including VMware and Tanzu.
Knowledge of data and process modelling techniques and tools.
Experience with Object-Oriented design, multi-tier and web-enabled architectures, and UML modelling.
