Are you interested in engaging in science policy? Flanders BioImaging is looking for a project coordinator. Flanders BioImaging aims to integrate, optimize, rationalize, and coordinate the imaging infrastructure available in Flanders while providing access to regional, national, and international users. In this context, Flanders BioImaging became an officially accredited multisite/multimodality node within Euro-BioImaging in 2023. The node consists of nine sites across the leading life science research institutes in Flanders, and funding has been obtained from the FWO international research infrastructure fund to develop key imaging applications at each site. Consequently, Flanders BioImaging is a node in Euro-BioImaging, the European landmark research infrastructure for biological and biomedical imaging. Euro-BioImaging aims to provide life scientists worldwide with access to imaging instruments and expertise, as well as training and data management/image analysis services via its network of accredited imaging ‘nodes’ and the ‘hubs’ located in Finland, Italy, and Germany. Therefore, the Flanders BioImaging project coordinator's job is to coordinate the Flanders BioImaging project at the interface between the local, regional, and transnational levels. We seek a full-time project coordinator for Flanders BioImaging. The idea is to coordinate between the different sites along the lines of the ongoing grant application, namely to integrate, optimize, rationalize, and coordinate the imaging infrastructure and develop imaging applications that can serve as spearheads of excellence for each site. Next to that, the idea is to support valorizing, in the sense of an increased degree of utilization and follow-up of projects utilizing the developed imaging spearpoints at each of the Flanders BioImaging sites within Euro-BioImaging and beyond. In addition, the coordination of quality and data management, as well as the management of access for Flanders BioImaging users, is part of the job. Moreover, the position requires coordinating the grant application for the next grant period. We are offering full-time employment based in Leuven, a historic, dynamic, and lively city located in the heart of Belgium, within 20 minutes of Brussels.
16. Financial support is available for 3 years until 2028, with the possibility of prolongation. The initial appointment is for one year and with possibility for extension upon positive evaluation.
17. An interdisciplinary environment with access to state-of-the-art technologies.
18. Access to extensive scientific and transferable skills training programs available through VIB and KU Leuven.
19. The position is available from September 1st, 2025.
