What will you do?
As a Technical Superintendent, you’ll make sure our fleet operates safely, reliably, and efficiently every single day. You'll be the main technical point of contact for the crew and the driving force behind maintenance and innovation.
Your responsibilities include:
* Monitoring the daily technical condition and performance of the vessels
* Planning and coordinating maintenance, inspections, and repairs
* Building strong, trusting relationships with the crew and providing technical support
* Regularly visiting the ships (2–3 times per week)
* Responding quickly and effectively to technical malfunctions or incidents (on-call rotation)
* Leading technical projects and refits from start to finish
* Developing and overseeing maintenance plans
* Maintaining contacts with suppliers, shipyards, and technical partners
* Managing the technical budget and advising on long-term investments
Profile
Who are you as a Technical Superintendent?
* Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Technology, Electromechanics, or a similar technical field
* Experience in the technical management of vessels, preferably in inland shipping
* Fluent in Dutch (or German) and English, with a willingness to learn German if needed
* Solid understanding of ship systems such as engines, propulsion, and electrical installations
* Familiarity with Classification Society rules and periodic maintenance requirements
* Confident working with a PMS (Plant Maintenance System)
* Hands-on, solution-oriented, and strong in project follow-up
* Excellent communication skills, able to build trust with the crew
* Flexible and willing to travel frequently to operational locations
* Good knowledge of European regulations and safety standards in inland shipping
