nanoGrid (Aalst, Belgium) is looking for a mid-level AI Engineer to supercharge our team with AI-powered solutions. This is a hands-on, in-office role (35 people company) where you’ll embed tools like Microsoft 365 Copilot into our daily workflow and automate the boring stuff so our people can focus on what really matters.
Key Responsibilities
* Automate and Innovate: Design and build automated workflows that connect our existing systems (from knowledge bases to business apps) without adding unnecessary tools. You leverage AI (e.g., Microsoft 365 Copilot) to streamline processes, generate content, and surface operational insights from data.
* Optimize Knowledge Management: Maintain and enhance our internal knowledge platforms. You use AI to organize information (metadata, taxonomy) and to generate or update documentation, onboarding guides, and training content. Your goal is to improve content discoverability and keep our knowledge assets scalable and “AI-ready” without creating silos.
* Improve Processes Continuously: Analyze everyday workflows to spot friction points and bottlenecks. You translate these insights into practical improvements – like a new Power Automate flow or AI-driven tool – that reduce operational overhead and make life easier for everyone. You deliver these improvements in short, incremental cycles, so we see measurable efficiency gains every sprint.
* Collaborate and Train: Work closely with colleagues across teams (from engineers to sales) to implement solutions they will love. You produce clear documentation and handover instructions for everything you build. You also support adoption through training sessions, playbooks, and hands-on guidance – even bringing in external experts for a fresh perspective when needed.
* Ensure Ethical & Smart Use of Tech: Embed practical AI (including LLMs) responsibly into our existing system landscape. You make sure any AI or automation is compliant with security and privacy standards. You focus on using the right tools (Microsoft 365, Azure, Python, low-code platforms) effectively rather than chasing hype – keeping solutions simple and smart.

Qualifications & Mindset
* Experience & Education: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar field is preferred. You have ~3+ years experience in software, data, or AI engineering (mid-level), with hands-on projects in automation or machine learning.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in scripting or programming (e.g. Python) and familiarity with cloud services (especially Microsoft Azure). Experience with Microsoft 365 tools (including Copilot and Power Automate) and integrating AI solutions into business systems – for example, connecting to an ERP like Microsoft Dynamics – is a strong plus. You understand data flows and APIs well enough to connect systems securely.
* Analytical Problem-Solving: You love analyzing processes to find gaps and inefficiencies. You can interpret data and user feedback to pinpoint problems, and then use technology (automation, AI) to solve them in a practical way.
* Communication: Able to communicate complex tech ideas in simple terms. You can write clear documentation and also explain the “why” behind your solutions to non-technical stakeholders, winning hearts and minds for new initiatives.
