Who we support
The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) provides secure communications and IT services to NATO member countries and partners. Established in 2012 and based in Brussels, Belgium, NCIA offers services including:
* Cyber Security: Protects NATO's networks against cyber threats.
* Command and Control Systems: Develops and maintains operational systems for NATO military commanders.
* Satellite Communications: Ensures secure satellite communications for NATO forces.
* Electronic Warfare: Supports threats detection and denial to communication networks.
* Information Management: Manages NATO's IT infrastructure, databases, applications, and servers.
Overall, NCIA plays a vital role in ensuring NATO's communication and IT capabilities are secure and effective.
The Program
Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS)
The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) is NATO’s primary provider of C3 capabilities and CIS services. It maintains and defends NATO's IT infrastructure to enable alliance cooperation and collective defense.
To deliver these services, NCI Agency requires a high-performance workforce, including NATO International Civilians, military personnel, and Interim Workforce Consultants (IWC), which constitute about 15% of the total workforce.

Role Background
The Alliance Federation Network (AFN) and Alliance Federation Services (AFS) create a federated network integrating NATO entities across the Alliance, facilitating secure and effective communication and information systems.
The AFN aims to develop a modern, transparent, and effective CIS platform for delivering C3 services, evolving NATO's network infrastructure based on the Internet and Federation Mission Networking standards.
Role Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide expertise to establish governance and management support structures across NATO Nations and NCIA.
* Develop and update the AFN/AFS roadmap and governance plans, coordinating with NDS.
* Implement governance activities ensuring smooth application and change management of the AFN/AFS.
* Develop communication and knowledge management strategies.
* Create issue and risk registers linked to NCIA registers.
* Lead service management activities and organize stakeholder meetings, ensuring documentation is maintained and distributed.
* Engage with senior staff from all NATO entities.
Essential Skills and Experience
* At least 10 years of relevant experience in IT Service Management within a military environment.
* Project management experience, preferably with Prince2.
* Experience in NATO interoperability exercises and with Microsoft SharePoint.
* Experience engaging with NATO entities like NDS, NHQ, ACO.
* Knowledge of NATO processes, international military and civilian environments, and NATO responsibilities.
Education
* A university degree in computer science or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
