Desmet is a leading global provider of custom-engineered plants and equipment for the food, feed and biofuels industries. Our reliable and innovative technologies transform oilseeds, grains and tropical oils into protein feed/food, edible oils/fats, oleochemicals and biofuel.
We are seeking candidates to design equipment by analyzing data and preliminary drawings, performing analytical calculations using MS Office applications, and modeling with Finite Element software like SolidWorks or Inventor. The role includes evaluating results with other engineers, finalizing the design, producing documentation, and overseeing manufacturing. If you are passionate about advancing R&D in seed preparation, solvent extraction, oil refining, fat modification and biodiesel, we invite you to apply.
KEY Accountabilities
* Conduct a thorough analysis of the provided basic data for the equipment, including its purpose, process conditions, technical sheets, basis of design, and preliminary drawings.
* Perform analytical calculations on various parts by applying relevant theories and mechanics, utilizing both manual methods and MS Office applications.
* Develop and simulate the equipment using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software such as SolidWorks or Inventor.
* Critically analyze and evaluate the simulation results to ensure accuracy and reliability.
* Collaborate with the Manager of Equipment Design and other engineers to discuss and refine the equipment design.
* Finalize the design, ensuring it meets the approval of the relevant Steering Committee.
* Produce and maintain all related reports, documents, and specifications.
* Oversee the manufacturing process of the first unit in the workshop, if required.
Required Profile
* Proficient in material standards (ASME and EN), welding procedures, manufacturing processes, and detailed engineering.
* Skilled in calculating static structures and dynamic equipment/machine elements using Roark, Shigley, Pearson, Eurocode, etc.
* Experienced with simulation software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) for Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD) for producing drawings.
* Knowledgeable in pressure vessel calculations (ASME Sec VIII, EN 13445, PED, TEMA) is advantageous.
* Capable of reviewing detailed engineering drawings to ensure manufacturability and compliance with calculations and standards.
* Proficient in MS Office applications (e.g., Excel) and fluent in English.
* Willingness to travel overseas to other Desmet offices and workshops.
