Job summary:
Systems Architects conceptualize products, provide technical leadership, and drive development of advanced technology-based solutions. For this role, the focus is on Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) platforms and architectures for automotive and transportation applications. Key responsibilities include analyzing technical specifications and system requirements to determine optimal approaches and feasibility within time and cost constraints, ensuring compliance with automotive standards and functional safety requirements.
This role also requires a solid understanding of electronics design principles, high speed digital interfaces, and high power hardware constraints to make informed, system level architectural decisions.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
SDV Architecture & System Design
* Define end to end SDV architectures, system specifications, PRD/MRD documentation, and integration strategies.
* Architect scalable platforms covering automotive-grade middleware, embedded OS, communications stacks, and hardware-software interfaces.
* Lead requirements engineering, system modeling, simulation, and feasibility studies to ensure compliance with OEM, regulatory, and functional safety standards.
* Guide analysis for reliability, performance, and safety across the full SDV lifecycle.
Embedded Software & Automotive Standards
* Apply deep knowledge of AUTOSAR (Classic & Adaptive), ISO 26262 functional safety, cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434), and vehicle networking (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet).
* Ensure SDV solutions support OTA updates, cloud integration, virtualization, and modern automotive software lifecycle management.
Cross-functional Engineering Leadership
* Collaborate with software, hardware, validation, and integration teams to deliver synchronized system-level solutions.
* Provide technical direction for design centers, suppliers, and partners involved in SDV platform development.
* Support customer engagements, RFIs/RFQs, and technical presentations showcasing Jabil's SDV architecture competency.
Innovation & Technical Roadmapping
* Contribute to Jabil's SDV technology roadmap and identify future platform evolution opportunities.
* Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and methods to strengthen Jabil's automotive software capability.
* Develop frameworks, processes, and best practices for SDV system architecture.
* Assess advancements in compute electronics, interconnect technologies, power electronics, and solutions relevant to SDV architectures.
Business & Strategy Responsibilities
* Align SDV architecture decisions with Jabil's automotive strategy and customer requirements.
* Identify cost optimization opportunities through modular, reusable, and scalable platform concepts.
* Prepare technical proposals, quotations, and funding requests for SDV programs.
Leadership Responsibilities
* Mentor and develop engineering talent in SDV architecture, automotive software, functional safety, and cybersecurity.
* Build and support recruitment of specialists in embedded systems and automotive software.
* Establish measurable goals for SDV programs and drive continuous improvement in delivery, quality, and compliance.
Job qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (MBA a plus).
* 15+ years of experience, including at least 5 years in automotive software architecture or SDV development.
* Proven experience working with OEMs/Tier 1s and navigating full automotive product lifecycles.
* Advanced understanding of electronics, including circuit behavior, PCB constraints, component selection, and hardware reliability principles.
* Afinity with hardware design for high speed and high power products
* Strong capability in system modeling, engineering reasoning, and data driven technical decision making.
* Excellent communication skills for complex technical discussions with cross-functional and customer teams.
