What you will do
The imec ICT department is searching for a solution architect focussed on data platforms. You will take part in the design, realisation and continuous improvement of the various data platform solutions and technologies that ICT offers to imec. You will work next to our enterprise data architect who is accountable for these platforms. The solution architect understands all the technologies, makes sure to select new technologies when needed, designs how they should interact, and works together with engineers to drive implementation and continues extension and improvement of the data platform offering
.
In addition, the solution architect is involved in the development of our "platform of platforms", which presents our self-service capabilities as a single offering enabling federated governance of data product
s.
As an architect, you make the match between the business use cases and the technology: You will closely collaborate with the people of imec using the platforms and their management to understand their needs, you will closely collaborate with the ICT technical teams and external partners to understand the technology, and most importantly you will make the match between both, providing solutions to the business challenges. You will help to shape the roadmaps of the technology platforms to make them fit for purpose to solve the business proble
ms.
The main platforms that you will focus on are data engineering, business intelligence, data storage and querying, data science, data governance, compute, ... You support the people using the platforms, like data engineering, report developers, scientists, ... Self-service usage of the platforms by both professional developers and citizen developers in the business is important to our strategy.
