Freelance A–Z Accountant (Fiduciary Sector)

This freelance assignment supports a well-established fiduciary services environment managing a diverse portfolio of small to mid-sized clients across Belgium. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as the primary point of contact for all accounting-related matters Execute full-cycle (A–Z) accounting processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and ledger maintenance Oversee and maintain the General Ledger, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with BE-GAAP standards Prepare and submit periodic VAT returns and ensure timely and accurate tax filings Handle corporate tax calculations and support tax reporting requirements Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, including preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies proactively Liaise with clients to collect financial data, clarify transactions, and provide advisory support where needed Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., tax specialists, auditors) during audits and reporting cycles Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and enhance efficiency across client portfolios Stay up to date with Belgian tax regulations and accounting standards to ensure ongoing compliance Requirements Experience Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, ideally within a fiduciary or accountancy firm Proven track record managing multiple clients simultaneously in a fast-paced environment Strong hands-on experience with A–Z accounting and General Ledger ownership Solid understanding of Belgian GAAP (BE-GAAP) and local tax regulations Demonstrated experience with VAT filings and corporate tax processes Technologies Proficiency in common accounting software (e.g., Exact Online, Yuki, WinBooks, or similar) Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial data analysis) Experience xjsrcvq with digital document management and workflow tools is a plus Language & Soft Skills Fluent in Dutch (mandatory); French and/or English is a plus Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize across a large client portfolio Strong communication skills with a client-focused mindset High level of accuracy, accountability, and ability to work independently Project Details: Start Date: ASAP Contract Length: 12+ Months Contract Type: Freelance Location: Leuven Hours Per Week: 40 Onsite Policy: 4 Days Per Week Language: Dutch If interested, please send your most up to date CV over to .
