Position: Head of Maintenance Execution
As the Head of Maintenance Execution, you will lead the maintenance execution team to ensure the availability and performance of Belgium assets, striving for an uninterrupted and efficient supply of utilities (such as pure steam, water for injection, etc.) and the proper functioning of production and infrastructure equipment.
You will manage a portfolio of small projects across all Belgium sites (approximately €30M), aimed at improving safety, quality, efficiency, and obsolescence management.
As a leader, you will oversee the technical community for the Belgium site, ensuring the implementation of best practices and standards throughout the site.
In your role as a member of the operational engineering leadership team, you will be responsible for maintenance results (KPIs) and defining maintenance strategies aligned with the goals of Belgium Industrial Operations and GSK GIO.
Your responsibilities include:
* Ensuring team safety in all maintenance activities.
* Managing and assessing risks related to TS activities, implementing preventive measures, and ensuring employees have the necessary skills and medical aptitude.
* Monitoring compliance with Lock-out Tag-out (LOTO) and Permit To Work (PTW) processes.
* Following the 3 green lights process for all new equipment and ensuring proper maintenance and inspection of facilities and equipment.
* Coordinating subcontractors, assessing risks, and reviewing EHS performance.
* Conducting incident investigations and ensuring timely CAPA implementation.
* Being a role model in EHS, conducting GEMBA walks, recognizing good behaviors, and addressing unsafe conditions.
Leadership and Strategic Responsibilities:
* Contributing to department strategy as part of the Belgium operational engineering Leadership Team.
* Partnering with peers and global teams to share vision and achieve objectives.
* Leading and motivating a management team to develop and execute strategies for process control and operational engineering.
* Developing capabilities to drive operational excellence in EHS, Quality, supply, and costs.
* Managing resources (~400 employees) and assets efficiently, implementing cost initiatives, and ensuring business continuity.
* Managing union relations and ensuring talent retention and development.
Maintenance of Equipment:
* Managing a team responsible for preventive, corrective maintenance, and requalification activities.
* Developing maintenance and improvement plans, ensuring compliance, and monitoring performance via KPIs.
* Providing technical support and managing maintenance contracts.
* Offering 24/7 support including on-call duties.
Spare Parts and Workshop Management:
* Managing the spare parts warehouse to ensure service levels and inventory optimization.
* Ensuring GMP compliance and centralizing workshop activities.
Calibration and Measurement:
* Aligning calibration plans with business needs and maintaining accurate master data.
Energy Management:
* Monitoring energy consumption and deploying savings projects.
Process Engineering (small projects):
* Managing the project portfolio (~€30M), ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, and obsolescence management within budget.
Expertise Development:
* Collaborating with global communities to develop team expertise and improve technical services.
People and Organization:
* Leading, training, evaluating, coaching, and motivating the team.
* Ensuring staffing, engagement, and talent development.
Quality / Regulatory:
* Ensuring compliance with legal, GMP, and regulatory standards.
* Maintaining documentation and audit readiness.
Change and Continuous Improvement:
* Leading change initiatives to improve manufacturing and supply.
* Implementing new processes and sharing best practices.
GSK Image / Representation:
* Participating in external audits as required.

* Reports to: Head of Belgium Maintenance
* Direct reports: 8-10
* Business travel: <10%
* Location: Wavre, Belgium (preference for Belgium and north France)
Basic Qualifications:
* Minimum 10 years in maintenance-related roles, including technical services and utilities.
* Experience with unions, leadership, and contract management.
* Knowledge of cGMP and BPF for biological products.
* Fluency in French (mandatory).
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master’s in Engineering + MBA preferred.
* Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech, especially vaccines.
* Strong technical background and leadership style based on proactive actions.
* Excellent troubleshooting, communication, planning, and organizational skills.
