Project Manager
Role Summary The organisation is progressing through a major transformation of its energy systems as part of broader CO₂‑reduction and sustainability commitments. This role places you at the centre of that evolution: managing, upgrading, and integrating a wide spectrum of industrial utilities, including high‑voltage networks, thermal systems, and modern energy‑efficient technologies. You will work across installations such as 15 kV electrical grids, steam networks, chillers, heat‑pump systems, absorption‑cooling units, and combined heat‑and‑power assets. Developing a deep understanding of the internal HV distribution setup is key, as the role involves both operational involvement and project leadership. You will oversee projects from first analysis through execution and post‑delivery optimisation. The work mixes field‑based tasks, technical design, configuration/programming, and strategic coordination. Although the role requires autonomy, you can count on support from experienced technical colleagues, as well as structured professional development opportunities.
Main Responsibilities Build thorough knowledge of the site’s high‑voltage distribution layout and carry out required operational duties. Deliver full project lifecycles: planning, design, execution, commissioning, and long‑term verification. Apply meticulous working methods with high attention to safety, precision, and coordination. Contribute to system programming, PLC/HMI configuration, and related engineering activities. Support performance improvements across multiple energy carriers: steam, hot water, chilled water, cooling towers, compressed air, cogeneration units, and more. Participate actively in demand‑response and grid‑interaction programmes. Operate as HV link supervisor and, when needed, serve as the designated HV installation manager.
Required Technical Background Strong interest in physics and technical problem‑solving, especially in thermodynamic concepts. Demonstrated experience with both LV and HV electrical distribution systems. Practical understanding of PLC platforms, HMI interfaces, and industrial control networks. Knowledge of electrical generation principles, reactive/active power behaviour, and load‑management strategies. Familiarity with multi‑utility infrastructure such as boilers, chillers, compressors, and heat‑recovery systems.
Candidate Profile Master’s degree in
electromechanical engineering
or significant equivalent experience. Confident in directing teams, clearly communicating technical intentions, and motivating others. Experience in project engineering, industrial maintenance, process systems, or production‑related technical environments. Solid foundation in electrical engineering and control systems. Knowledge of HV distribution and certification as
BA5‑competent person. Experience with (or willingness to obtain)
Skilled Person High Voltage (VP HS / NEN 3840)
credentials. Independent mindset with the ability to initiate and follow through on technical actions. Strong organisational execution, analytical thinking, and determination to improve systems. Responsible, safety‑driven, resilient, and able to manage pressure. Fluent in
Dutch and English, with bonus points for working knowledge of
French or German. Willingness to perform duties across multiple Belgian locations when required.
