✈️ We are looking for a motivated and safety-focused professional to support our Safety Department. In this role, you will contribute to regulatory compliance, operational safety, and the continuous improvement of safety processes across the organisation.
️ Job Summary
The Safety Assistant is responsible for ensuring the maintenance of aviation safety standards throughout the organisation. Their primary duties encompass the verification of compliance with established safety procedures and regulatory requirements, the execution of routine safety inspections, and the comprehensive investigation of incidents. Through the systematic monitoring of adherence to safety protocols and the provision of support during audit processes, the Safety Assistant makes a significant contribution to the establishment and preservation of a secure working environment, whilst facilitating the proactive identification and mitigation of potential safety hazards.
Key Responsibilities
Retrieve CCTV footage upon explicit request
Conduct safety checks as prescribed by the BCAA
Participate in incident investigations, prepare reports, and define corrective actions with operational management
Follow up and implement safety procedures
Monitor and address employees regarding safety practices
Investigate aviation safety incidents
Support safety-related audits
Assist in reporting incidents to authorities
Perform QHSE tasks when required
Follow all internal and external safety rules (SOP/LOP)
Primarily stationed at one Belgian location, with availability to support other stations when needed
Ensure compliance with safety regulations
Investigate and provide administrative follow-up on incidents
Maintain formal contact with external parties to ensure correct application of safety rules
Coordinate with internal stakeholders on safety compliance
Liaise with BCAA regarding deviations, incidents, questions, and reporting
Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and apply environmental policies daily
Qualifications & Competencies
Safety-driven mindset
Knowledge of BCAA and airport regulations
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
Basic audit knowledge
Flexible availability (including occasional weekends & night shifts)
Minimum 12 months experience in aviation
Fluent communication skills (French, Dutch, English – written & verbal)
Ability to provide information and clearly explain procedures
