Security Architect – Architecture Office
Duration: ASAP – May 2027
Workload: Full time hours
Setup: Freelance (Daily rate / Limited Company / Umbrella / Sole Trader)
Location: Brussels (hybrid)
We are looking for an experienced Security Architect to define, govern, and evolve enterprise-wide security architecture across complex IT and OT environments for a large-scale, multi-project landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
* Define and maintain enterprise security architecture, principles, reference models, and blueprints
* Translate regulatory, business, and risk requirements into secure-by-design architectures
* Design secure hybrid and multi-cloud architectures with a strong focus on Azure
* Drive Zero Trust principles across identity, network, application, and data layers
* Provide architectural guidance on IAM, PAM, SIEM/SOAR, CSPM, EDR, WAF, and DLP platforms
* Collaborate closely with enterprise, domain, and technical architects
* Support compliance with NIS2, ISO 27001, and GDPR requirements
Must-Have Skills:
* 5+ years’ experience in security architecture
* Broad expertise across cloud security, IAM/PAM, network & infrastructure, application & API security, container security, data protection, and security monitoring
* Experience in IT/OT environments
* Proven ability to design secure hybrid and multi-cloud architectures
* Master’s degree in engineering or a scientific discipline
* Strong stakeholder communication skills
* Fluency in English and either French or Dutch
* Relevant certifications (e.g. TOGAF, SABSA, CISSP, CISM, CCSP, ITIL, AWS/Azure)
* Experience with enterprise architecture tools (e.g. Sparx Enterprise Architect)
Nice-to-Have:
* Experience within the utility or energy sector (asset management, metering, field operations)
