HSE Lead - Pharmaceutical sector

Today, we're recruiting a senior HSE Lead for a large-scale pharmaceutical infrastructure project currently in full execution phase in the Brabant wallon area, in Belgium.
This is a hands-on, on-site leadership role — not an advisory position. You'll own HSE performance end-to-end, from construction through commissioning and start-up.
Your responsibilities
As the new HSE Head, you will have to :
* Define and deploy the project HSE strategy across all execution and commissioning phases
* Embed safety-by-design principles throughout construction and technical installation activities
* Act as the single point of contact for all HSE matters — contractors, design offices, engineering teams and internal stakeholders
* Review and approve risk assessments, RAMS and all HSE documentation
* Lead safety audits, inspections, site walks and toolbox meetings
* Ensure all legal inspections, permits and start-up prerequisites are completed on time
* Track incidents, corrective actions and safety KPIs — and act on them decisively
* Challenge teams, enforce standards and maintain a strong, credible on-site presence.
Your profile
* You have minimum 8 years of professional experience, with significant exposure as HSE Lead on large CAPEX projects
* You are a Belgian Prevention Advisor — Level 1 certification is mandatory (Levels 2 and 3 are not sufficient)
* You have engineering background (construction, electrical, mechanical, HVAC or industrial) followed by HSE/prevention specialisation — this combination is key
* You have proven ability to lead, challenge and enforce safety standards in multi-contractor environments
* And an experience with commissioning and start-up processes in industrial settings
* Pharma or laboratory construction experience is a strong asset
* You are fluent in both English and French
* Hands-on mindset, high on-site availability and strong professional credibility.
